Google Street View: Where Is That Candid Camera?

Xeni Jardin at BoingBoing asks the question would we be more or less bothered about the news of Google’s Street View if those doing the viewing were the CIA or NSA? Hello. Been happening for awhile. Drive down an Interstate lately? Folks who have been using that technology just don’t need to broadcast about it to gain a bounce for their investors. Just another in a long line of technology advances as Google prepares to take over the world if you ask me. As much as this makes me feel a little exposed, I am sure we are going to see lots more revealing uses of this kind of thing in the months to come.

The Google Street View vehicle revealed

By now, we’re pretty sure you’ve heard about Google’s new Street View feature, right? If you’re like us, you’ve been wondering about the vehicles they’re using to create those voyeuristic, 360-degree, street-level images in Manhattan’s concrete canyons and beyond. Well, here’s a hint: that’s Immersive Media’s vehicle reflected in the Street View picture captured above. Now, if they could just find ET we’d be all set. Oh right, they have. Oh Google, is there anything you can’t do?
